Community Improvement Plan

Renovation Study Grant Program

Prior to the implementation of a redevelopment project, the applicant may require a Renovation Design Study. The Downtown Community Improvement Plan (DCIP) helps support this initial financial cost by providing funding through the Renovation Study Grant Program.

This program provides financial assistance in the form of a non-repayable grant to support 50% of eligible, third-party costs associated with a study to a maximum contribution of $2,500. Renovation studies shall be for the purpose of items such as structural analysis, evaluation of mechanical systems and concept or design plans.

Eligible costs include:

  • Third-party, arm's length professional consultant fees (i.e. engineer, architect, design professional)

The following costs are NOT eligible:

  • Costs not directly associated to the development of a renovation study
  • Costs associated to the development of a Business Plan
  • Capital costs
  • Operating expenses
  • Administration costs
  • Employee wages
  • Refinancing or Bank charges
  • Any costs incurred prior to the written approval of the DCIP application
