Community Improvement Plan

Overview

The Downtown Community Improvement Plan (DCIP) provides significant advantages for Downtown North Bay. Are you a business owner, property owner or a potential investor looking for funding opportunities in Downtown North Bay?

It has been demonstrated many times over that a vibrant downtown drives economic activity in other commercial districts of a community. In addition, the vitality of a downtown is often utilized by residents and investors as an indicator of the relative economic well-being of a community.

The City of North Bay has demonstrated its commitment to a healthy Downtown through projects such as the “Big Dig”, the acquisition and restoration of the former CP Rail lands and the construction of a new transit terminal. The revitalization of the downtown core will also require the complementary participation of the private-sector, through the establishment and expansion of new office and retail businesses and the development of new multi-residential projects.

The DCIP is a series of City-funded incentive programs that are designed to stimulate private-sector investment in the Downtown. The goal of the DCIP is to improve the attractiveness of the Downtown by encouraging sustainable businesses and residential projects. Through this program, the City will redevelop the Downtown core into a commercial centre that caters to the needs of shoppers, the business community and residents.
