Many of the original commercial buildings in the Downtown core date back to the early 1900's. The condition and appeal of each building's façade contributes to the attractiveness of the downtown as a whole. To encourage private-sector investment in the exterior of these buildings, the Downtown Community Improvement Plan (DCIP) includes a Façade Improvement Grant Program.
This program provides property owners the financial assistance to significantly improve a building's façade (including signage). This non-repayable grant will not exceed 50% of total renovation expenses, to a maximum contribution of $15,000.
Eligible costs include:
- Third-party contractor fees
The following costs are NOT eligible:
- General maintenance expenses
- Refinancing and Bank charges
- Any costs incurred prior to the written approval of the DCIP application
